My favorite phrase that started up during 2020Can change the world If applied consistently"I Appreciate You"If you can start to use that with specific examples It can do a massive amount of goodFor others and ourselvesAn exercise I've been practicing for yearsAnd is backed by scienceIs send specific praise, appreciation and thanks to people we knowBy tapping into a specific situation and storyIt helps engrain that thanks in usAnd sends a massive positive ripple effect to othersTry it once a day for a weekTo a colleague, friend, family memberSend a text, slack or emailStating one specific reason, or instance Why you appreciate that personAnd it'll go a LONG way for youAnd for them tooOver time, this will help you perform better at sales too

Who can you appreciate today? Send a quick note. Maybe it's your BDR, a manager, a friend, your partner, a parent, a stranger at the grocery store, an old friend from school. The list is endless and it only takes 1 minute

"I Appreciate You" is also one of my favorites. My very first CU WEOKIE Federal Credit Union uses this slogan. Very similar to the "My Pleasure" at Chick Fil A. Thank you for the reminder that sincere appreciation goes a long way.

Love this. I’ve been doing Ian Koniak’s challenge of telling a person a day for a 100 days what I’m grateful for about them and it has changed so much stuff.

Agree with you. Sometimes we forget how much simple words can mean to people. Good message!

Wow. Heck of a welcome home out the back door. Was angry my golf round got rained out?Of course. But without the rain, there would be no 🌈 When I walked outside, I saw a friend I hadn’t seen in monthsWe ended up hanging out for 3 hours. What may piss you off, get you angry or make you upsetMight be a total blessing in disguise. But you’ve gotta keep your eyes open for it. Tried chasing the pot of gold 💰But didn't get it.

The recent Roger Federer commencement speech at Dartmouth was AMAZING. It has so many lessons for sellers, for life & is a great way to start JulyHere are some of my favorite quotes from the speech to help you crush sales:"There are days when you feel broken... and you still find away to win, those are the ones you celebrate""Yes talent matters, but it has a broad definition. It's not about having a gift, it's about having grit.""In the 1,526 singles matches I played in my career, I won almost 80% of those matches...Now what % of points do you think I won in those matches?Only 54%" 🤯"It's only a point. When you're playing a point it has to be the most important thing in the world. But when it's behind you, it's behind you.""Negative energy is wasted energy, you want to become a master at overcoming hard moments"You don't have to win every call, email or deal in order to be one of the best of all time. But you do need to show up. Do the work. Bounce back from failure. And take care of yourself. What were your favorite quotes from the speech?

One of the best lessons I learned in salesWas coming in #2 at the end of the year out of 100+Finishing #1 wasn't my goalIt was 11PM ET And a customer called, willing to work on a dealTo get me over the line and finish #1But I was watching NYE Fireworks with my wife And said, thanks...but I'd rather take the $$$ next monthAnd spend time with the ones I loveNot only did that help me build my valuesComing in #2 gave me a massive opportunity to reflectTo learnThe amount of times I work with folks that finish #1 And then say...now what?! It was a meaningless goal for most of themAlthough I work with folks that want to be #1And we make it meaningful and impactfulBut you get a chance to define your valuesWhat's important to you? What is meaningful to you?WHY?!Then you get a chance to move forward on your own termsBut coming in #2 gave me an awesome opportunity to reflect, to learn, to growAnd to redefine what was important to meAs you finish this month and quarter. Halfway through the yearWhere do you want to focus the rest of the year? What will make the rest of this year great for you?If you're just chasing an arbitrary number someone else set for you...There's probably more to learn and grow If you want to succeed in sales and leadership over the long-haul

This is a perfect time for quick reflectionIt’s easy to focus on everything you didn’t doSo start by finding at least 1 thing you’re proud of. Big or small doesn’t matter. Then see what’s 1 skill, habit, trait you want to build moving forwardTake small action on it now. Whoever you’ve been up until this point can change with 1 simple decision and 1 step forward today. Want to be more organized?Great put it on your calendar, spend 5 minutes organizing your pipeline. Want to workout more?Nice! Spend 5 minutes today moving your bodyThe only thing stopping you from being the person you want to become, is you. 1% better everyday.

Finally in our house again for the first time in 18 months 🤯 End of month, quarter, etc. opens a lot of potential to spiral up or spiral down. It’s your choice where you focus and what you spend time thinking about. It’s easy to wallow in self doubt and shame and scarcity. Challenge yourself to make today great. Find the good. Find the learning and opportunity. You can’t change the past, but don’t let it negatively impact your future.

The amount of sellersThat are conditioning to thinkThis is the way, is so sad to meSales doesn't have to feel like this But as I've been talking more sellersThe more I keep hearing essentially this same thing"I'm super stressed, but this is sales""I've been running on fumes, even after crushing quota""The relationships in my life are suffering because of work""I freaked out at my partner, over nothing they did wrong, but they know I'm in sales"You're trained to believe sales is stressfulAnd it isBut there's much more about how you can be intentional with the stressUse the fire going on around you intentionally So it doesn't just use youBut you take control of itSales is an absolute roller coasterUps and downsThere's whiplashAnd emotional struggles that are bound to happenEven after you crush your number...you're back to ZERO There are so many simple and easy tools you can useTo calm the flames of this fireTo have a fire extinguisher in your tool beltTo use that fire to create massive momentum in your lifeBut if you're just resigned to "Sales is hard and I'm bound to be ridiculously stressed"You won't last long.Shoot me a DM if you want to make salesThe happiest and most rewarding profession on the planet
