A jury has awarded more than $13 million to an ultramarathon athlete who was injured in a fall on a Seattle sidewalk in 2021. The Seattle Times reports that a King County jury found the city of Seattle and the owners of an apartment building responsible for the amount. Lesley Mettler Auld says she will never run again and struggles to walk after falling on a sidewalk in the city's Queen Anne neighborhood. She required multiple surgeries to repair her damaged quadriceps. A spokesperson for the city declined to comment on the award.

Three young men from Alabama have died following a desperate search after they became “distressed” while swimming at a Florida Panhandle beach, authorities said Saturday morning.

Jon Gray allowed two hits over five innings to rebound from his worst major league start and Wyatt Langford hit an eighth-inning grand slam that led the Texas Rangers over the Kansas City Royals 6-0. WINDOM, Minn. — Residents in southwestern Minnesota awoke to flooded yards and closed roads Saturday after heavy rains overnight.

Ronel Blanco pitched seven strong innings and Chas McCormick homered twice to lead the Houston Astros to a 5-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Yordan Alvarez added a two-run shot to help Houston extend its winning streak to four games. Blanco allowed four hits and a run with three strikeouts for his third straight win. Corbin Burnes allowed a season-high two homers and a season-most four runs in seven innings to snap his career-best streak of 10 consecutive quality starts. Jordan Westburg homered for the Orioles to extend their streak of games with a homer to a franchise-record 21 games.

Christopher Bell used a three-wide, last-lap pass on Saturday to win the NASCAR Xfinity Series race for the fourth straight time at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The 29-year-old Bell remained undefeated at New Hampshire in the Xfinity Series and scored another win for Joe Gibbs Racing in the No. 20 Toyota. Sheldon Creed was second and Cole Custer third. Creed has two runner-up finishes this season and 10 overall in the Xfinity Series without a win in 86 career races. He’s tied with Dale Jarrett and Daniel Hemric for most second-place finishes before a victory.
