my thoughts...

It's a mature sci-fi sequel that's almost as good as the original.

Second Blade Runner is almost as good as the original!

Blade Runner 2049 is a Sci-Fi/Action film starring Ryan Gosling. This is a great movie with plenty of violence, swearing, and sex. 16+.Violence: 5/5Expect a lot of guns and shooting. Also, some blood and bloody wounds. Their are also crashes and explosions.Language: 4/5Language includes: 6 spoken uses of f--k, 2 written ( they write f--k off skinner). Also one use of pr--k. S--t is used twice (once being bulls--t). Once, extremely loudly, Officer K says Godd-mnit. Bas--rd, a--hole, hell.Sex: 4/5Holograms of fully nude women, One scene has two giant statues of naked women. Their breasts are seen from a side profile for a few seconds. Lots of bare breasts.Consumerism: 2/5Peugeot logo shown on car, Sony logo used more than once. Other brands include Atari etc.Drinking, Drugs, Smoking: 3/5Characters frequently drink either alcohol or whiskey. However, no drunkness. Conclusion: Blade Runner 2049 is a 2017 released sequel with great acting. Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford lead this Sci-Fi/Action film. Great choice for kids 16 and up.Movie: A+Acting: A+Plot: A+I agree with Common Sense Media for a 16+ rating. Do not let young teens see this movie! To much violence, swearing, sex, and substance use.Great Movie!!! Almost as good as the original.

Detailed review—as spoiler free as possible

Violence: This movie features several stabbing scenes; some from knives, glass, and other objects. People are shot in multiple scenes in various places; it’s shown on camera with blood splatter. A person drowns while being strangled; this scene is very long and intense. There is a lot of crime; including murder, robbery, etc. There are skulls, skeletons, recently deceased bodies. Also, several deep wounds, intense bruising, etc. It’s implied that orphaned children are abused. Now, for me personally, the violence didn’t really bother me. However, the drowning scene was a bit agitating to watch. Sex: Several naked women are shown (nates and breasts); these scenes aren’t too intense since the woman is simply naked while walking, moving, or sitting. There is never a woman completely naked kissing or engaging in anything more with a man. There is a very inappropriate scene that is fairly visible; although the glass is fogged, you can quite clearly see naked men and women umm—doing really inappropriate things—so, I recommend fast-forwarding the unnecessary scene if you’re watching with a younger audience as there is inappropriate audio, as well (the scene begins with three prostitutes standing outside the “inappropriate place” so skip at this spot). There is kissing, dancing, prostitution, sexual implications, etc. Nothing too bad, honestly. Except the fogged-glass-scene. Swearing: There’s not a whole lot of swearing, but it’s in there. You’ll definitely hear a lot, just not constantly. Storyline: It’s a bit hard to follow at times, but overall, I was pretty invested in what was happening. The main character, K (or Joe), is very interesting and although you don’t really “connect” to him, you certainly will begin to empathize him within the (about) three hours you’ll know him. The ending felt complete and was half-happy, half-sad—my favorite kind of endings. My overall thoughts: It was definitely an action-packed film with a hint of mystery. The acting is superb; Ryan Gosling did an amazing job at playing a “soulless”, futuristic, inhuman cop and Harrison Ford—as always—effortlessly performed his old role. I definitely recommend watching the first film so you can better understand what is happening, but it’s not required to enjoy the movie. If you’re sensitive to any of inappropriate things listed above, don’t watch or be ready to watch. But it really isn’t too bad. If you think you can handle it, definitely watch it.

Beautifully shot and well-made sci-fi thriller has violence.

The film has violence, including shootings and bloody stabbings. One scene depicts a completely naked woman being stabbed in the stomach with a scalpel, causing a large amount of blood to run down her legs. Another scene depicts a physical fight between two men that involves one of them being thrown through a wall, punched, and stabbed in the arm with a knife. The fight ends with one of them being bloodlessly shot in the chest twice. One scene depicts a woman having a glass forcibly crushed in her hand, causing it to bleed. She is later slashed and stabbed with a switchblade, resulting in a brief spurt of blood. One scene depicts a man being attacked by a large group of raiders. He breaks one of their backs and bloodlessly shoots a few others. The area is then bombed, killing the rest. Another scene depicts a woman being shot in the head at point blank range, causing a spray of blood. There is nudity, including sight of bare breasts and buttocks. There is language, including use of "f*ck" and "sh*t". There is some sexual content, including a scene outside of brothel. The brothel has frosted windows, and there is partial sight of people having sex inside. Moaning is also heard. Overall: 12+ for strong sci-fi violence, language, some sexual content, and nudity.

Better than the original, but also more sexual.

Masterpiece of a film, but has nudity and sex multiple times, I'd say maybe 5 scenes, though these can be skipped pretty easily. But even besides that, it's a better movie for when your kid is older.

My 2nd favourite film with violence, amazing visuals and other things to expect fromDenis Villeneuve films

I would highly recommend this film to people who are either fans of Denis Villeneuve films or fans of futuristic films. This film is just as violent as the first movie and has a few bloody deaths and wounds. There is some nudity but there isn't any shown sex. I love this film so much that it has entered my top 3 all time favourite films (I have a top 10 as well)! Most people aged 13 can watch, although 12 year old kids can probably watch too.
