Today was all about the golf and we saw some outstanding play at Valhalla.

Shane Lowry equalled history as he and Justin Rose came from nowhere while the Californian duo of Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele could not be separated.

Then we've got Viktor Hovland and Bryson DeChambeau among those lurking to strike.

Catch up with the report here and then join us for every beat tomorrow from 18:00 BST.

  2. 'I typically love Sundays'published at 00:29 19 May

    00:29 19 May

    Schauffele -15 (68)

Xander Schauffele sums up his tournament so far:

"It was easy going there the first round. Everything felt super easy.

"Felt like I've had to work for a lot of my birdies the last two days. Haven't been able to make many putts. I feel like I'm still hitting the ball - I've got to look at the stats but feel like I'm hitting the ball pretty nice.

"If I can just get the putter going a little bit, it should free me up."

And how he'll approach tomorrow's final round:

"Just like any other tournament for the most part. It's another Sunday. I typically love Sundays. I think I need to really just stay in my lane and do a lot of what I've been doing and just worry about myself.

"It would mean a lot. At the end of the day, it's just a result. Winning a tournament is just a result. All I can focus on are good golf shots and striking good putts.

"At the end of the day, wherever the cards fall, they fall."

  3. 'The most disappointed anyone can ever be shooting 62'published at 00:28 19 May

    Lowry - 13 (62)

More from Shane Lowry, who was speaking to the media after his record-equalling round: "It was pretty good. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed every minute of it.

"Probably the most disappointed anyone can ever be shooting 62. I knew what was at stake [on the final putt]. I just didn't hit the ball hard enough. Had it on a good read and just broke away from the hole.

"I went out there with a job to do today, and my job was to try to get myself back in the tournament, and I definitely did that."

On importance of putting himself in this position going into Sunday: "Obviously you come here, the start of every major championship, and you know what it means to win one of them.

"I've been fortunate to do it before, and to win one is pretty good, but to win multiple, you're kind of a bit of a different level. Yeah, it would mean a lot to me tomorrow."

The Europeans were dialled in on the greens today.

Shane Lowry and Justin Rose were top two with Bob MacIntyre sixth.

They'll need that again to stay among it tomorrow.

  5. Scheffler's record streak endspublished at 00:22 19 May

    00:22 19 May

    Scheffler -7 (73)

In 2024, Scottie Scheffler's had to have treatment on a neck injury during play - and went on to win the tournament at The Players.

He's become a father and (presumably) had very little sleep.

He's even been arrested and had to warm up in a jail cell.

But the first thing to knock him out of his stride this season is the absence of caddie Ted Scott.

It's not the fault of today's caddie Brad Payne - but at least we now know the secret to his superpower.

His streak of 41 rounds under par is definitely over.

  6. Everything to play forpublished at 00:16 19 May

So, we'll have Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa in the final pairing tomorrow locked together on 15 under par.

Morikawa was more aggressive generally today, while Schauffele again went into his shell when in front, but after that double bogey he stepped back into attack mode and looked much better with those two late birdies.

So will Xander go for it from the start tomorrow? That's what he has to decide and the dynamic between these two will be fascinating.

Let's not rule any of the stacked leaderboard behind them out though, especially Sahith Theegala, who started slowly but lit it up later on.

In fact, Theegala played his last 10 holes in six under - and something similar tomorrow will give him a great chance. He'll be fun to watch whatever happens.

  7. 'Got a good chance'published at 00:15 19 May

    DeChambeau -13 (67)

The 2020 US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau after a four-under 67: "I've got a good chance. I'm not executing to the level thatI know I can, but playing well enough to give myself a chance.

On public perception: "I've worked really hard to have people help hopefullyunderstand who I am a little bit better. YouTube has been a great platform tohelp that out.

"It keeps my brain fresh and realizing what the game is all about, not just for myself and winning moneyor winning trophies but entertaining, as well. Obviously we all want to wintrophies. But being able to entertain the fans is what we're all here to do."

On his chipped eagle at the 18th hole: "Exhilarating. I haven't felt like that in a long time."

What a fantastic leaderboard we’ve got . The top nineare really in the mix with Justin Thomas in 10th and maybe some localsupport will carry him through.

There are maybe some names there we didn’texpect to see at the start of the day and there are lots of fascinating stories. It’s hard to pick one person.

I would go down to 11 under, within four. One of thosegolfers will make six or seven birdies tomorrow and that will be really hard topass.

    Is the winner in here?

    -15 Morikawa (67), Schauffele (68)

    -14 Theegala (68)

    -13 Lowry (62), Hovland (66), DeChambeau (67),

    -12 Rose (64), MacIntyre (66)

  10. Birdie finishes all roundpublished at 00:05 19 May

    00:05 19 May

    Schauffele -15, Morikawa -15, Theegala -14 (18)

Xander Schauffele can't chip in like Bryson DeChambeau but he leaves it close enough to tap in for birdie.

Collin Morikawa also gets his birdie after a nice approach following the lay-up, so stays in a tie for the lead with his playing partner.

And let's not forget Sahith Theegala who completes the set of three birdies to move into outright second on his own. That's a great finish from this final group.

  11. 'Still not 100% happy with where game is at'published at 00:04 19 May

Viktor Hovland speaking to Sky Sports: "I'm working in the right direction now and I’m seeing theresults right away.

"I’m still not 100% happy with where it [my game] is at. I’m playing thegame really well so far this week but already going in the right direction.

On being more emotionally comfortable with his game: "Yeah I’m just kind of fighting some things but at least Iknow what to do.

"When you’re aware of this stuff then you can at least work on it."

This was Hovalnd's first career bogey-free round at the PGA Championship and fourth in a major. The Norwegian entered the week 81st on tour this season in strokes gained approach - he is 9th this week.

    23:55 18 May

    Schauffele -14, Morikawa -14, Theegala -13 (17)

Xander Schauffele ends up almost in the same spot where Bryson DeChambeau chipped in from just moments ago for eagle - he'll hope he can follow him in!

Sahith Theegala is also just off the green in two so will hope to pick up at least one shot from there.

Collin Morikawa has to lay up after being stuck in the rough, but he's stuck his third closer enough to hope for a birdie.

  13. 'Going to be nervous tonight'published at 23:53 18 May

Scotland's Bob MacIntyre after his five-under 66 left him joint seventh on day three: "We're still right inthe golf tournament, and I come out today and just tried mybest. Tomorrow that's another test. Go out there and tryand control myself as well as I can, and to be honest, forme it's all about acceptance. I've just got to accept wherethe golf ball goes.

"Everyone knows I've been struggling with living in Americasince January. I went home there forthree weeks. Spent a lot of time with friends and familyand everyone that really matters to me, and I came backout wanting to play golf

"I'm going to be nervous tonight. But all I can do is try my best."

  14. Scheffler closes with a birdiepublished at 23:49 18 May

    23:49 18 May

    Scheffler -7 (73)

Out of the bunker and splashed to inside two feet.

Well played Scottie Scheffler. It's not been his day but he's still smiling as he shakes hands with his playing partners Thomas Detry and Mark Hubbard.

There's a hug for stand-in caddie Brad Payne - I imagine Scheffler will be relieved to have Ted Scott back tomorrow.

  15. Postpublished at 23:48 18 May

    23:48 18 May

    Schauffele -14, Morikawa -14, Theegala -13 (17)

Xander Schauffele has found the middle of the middle of the 18th fairway - you couldn't go out and place it any better and he'll be able to have a dart at the green in two on this closing par five.

  16. 'Showed his mettle'published at 23:45 18 May

    23:45 18 May

    Schauffele -14 (17)

    Zane Scotland
Former European Tour player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Schauffele showed his mettle there after the disastrous double bogey.

Onb 16 he played smart and then here, he's waited his turn and found a fantastic approach shot at the right time.

If he can hit the fairway on the 18th, there's a real opportunity of making a three.

There will be a bit of nerves in this.

  17. Schauffele birdiepublished at 23:45 18 May

    23:45 18 May

    Schauffele -14, Morikawa -14, Theegala -13 (17)

Xander Schauffele is not missing that one. In it goes to send him back to the top of the leaderboard - albeit tied with Collin Morikawa who hits a tentative putt down the hill and leaves it well short.

Sahith Theegala doesn't hold back does he? He fires his birdie putt at the hole and it races past, but he's great at holing out and bangs it in for par.

  18. Box office from Brysonpublished at 23:41 18 May

    23:41 18 May

    DeChambeau -13 (67), Hovland -13 (66), Eckroat -10 (69)

What a finish from Bryson DeChambeau!

He has saved his best until last.

The big hitting American played his second shot on the par five 18th to just off the edge of the green. He chips it perfectly and it heads straight into the cup for a closing eagle and celebrates accordingly.

Viktor Hovland, who had landed it just on the green, can't quite match Bryson's eagle but he does come away with a birdie that takes him to 13 under par and one shot off the lead.

    23:40 18 May

    Scheffler -6 (17)

Here comes Scottie Scheffler down the 18th, looking for a way to finish his round with some positivity.

He launches his second shot towards the green but it falls short and slides apologetically into the bunker.

I bet he can't wait for this to end.

  20. Xander on the attackpublished at 23:38 18 May

    23:38 18 May

    Schauffele -13, Morikawa -14, Theegala -13 (16)

It's like that double bogey has woken Xander Schauffele up a little bit and, now he's no longer in the lead is back in attack mode - like at 17 for instance as he's fired a dart right at the flag and has a great birdie chance coming up.
