Dalcha is a gravy dish which has any meat which is cooked with dal and veggies in it. It is more like a meat sambar. This is a muslim recipe and it is normally served with ghee rice or any mild pulav.

Ingredients for Chicken Dalcha
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Ghee - 1 tbsp
- Cinnamon / Pattai - 4 cm piece
- Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 2 tsp
- Cardamom / Yalakai - 4
- Cloves / Krambu - 4
- Onion - 2 large sliced thinly
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tbsp
- Tomatoes - 2 large sliced thinly
- Curry Leaves - a handful
- Green Chillies - 3 slit
- Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
- Coriander Powder - 2 tbsp
- Cumin Powder - 2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - 1 tsp
- Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder - 1 tbsp
- Fennel Seed Powder / Saunf / Sombu - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Mint Leaves - ½ cup chopped
- Coriander Leaves - ½ cup chopped
- Toor Dal / Tuvaram paruppu - ¾ cup
- Chicken - 1 kg with bone
- Raw Banana - 1 peeled and cubed
- Potato - 2 medium size peeled and cubed
- Brinjal - 2 cubed
- Carrot - 1 cubed
- Raw Mango - 1 medium size cubed
- Tamarind Pulp - 2 to 3 tbsp

Even though the ingredients list is quite long and it has so many component in it. But over all it is a simple curry to make. I hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you.
How to Make Chicken Dalcha
- Pressure cook toor dal with 3 cup of water for 3 whistle, simmer the flame and cook for 10 mins.
- Turn off the heat and let the steam escape all by itself. Open the cooker and mash the dal well. Set aside.
- Heat oil and ghee in a pressure cooker, add in whole spices and saute for a min.
- Add in onions, salt and cook the onions till light brown.
- Then add in Ginger garlic paste and saute for a min.
- Add in tomatoes, curry leaves, green chillies and saute till the tomatoes turn mushy.
- Add in all spice powders and mix well.
- Now add in chicken and toss well in the masala. Fry this for 5 mins till the chicken gets nice colour.
- Add in coriander and mint leaves. Mix well.
- Then add in all veggies except mango and mix well.
- Add in water and mix well. Cover and pressure cook for 2 whistle. Simmer the flame for 10 mins.
- Turn off the heat and let the steam go all by itself. Open the cooker and add in dal, mango, tamarind pulp.
- Simmer this for 10 mins.
- Add in more coriander leaves and mix well.
- Serve with rice or pulav.

Ingredients
